It's not all about life......... it's about much more

"I had recently given my 12th grade exams, when I came home one day and felt tremendous pain in my thigh, followed by a high fever. When I visited my family doctor, they asked us to get a sonography done and that's when we realised I had a 4kg tumour inside my body that didn't show even a little bit from the outside.
I went into surgery the next day and I remember my doctor pacing up and down the room trying to break it to me that I had 3rd stage cancer, but by then I had already figured it out. I made it easier for her by asking the question, 'will I lose my hair?' At that point, when my parents asked the doctor for my chances of survival, I was at 0%.
The thing is, from the very beginning I didn't allow cancer to get the better of me - if anything, cancer was always playing a losing game with me. Since the time I was diagnosed with a 0% survival chance, I had made up my mind that I would defeat it. I did lose my hair, so I called a barber home, shaved it all off and proceeded to mock myself in front of others as 'egghead' - I never allowed cancer to make me a victim. I've always called myself a 'shameless cancer patient' because I would just laugh things off and embrace them as an experience - but I think that's the only thing that got me out of it.

Infact, cancer made me realise how lucky I am to have gotten a 2nd life and pushed me to pursue everything I'm passionate about. I studied clinical psychology because I wanted to help others, especially teens who had cancer to deal with it. But the biggest thing cancer has done for me is to get me into music - I began singing to emote better - and I'm the lead singer of my own band!
So what can I say - I went through 3 chemo sessions, 8 surgeries and a million complications at the age of 17 -- but I won the battle, only because I was shameless enough to laugh at it rather than giving it the power to be life threatening."

Tryst with destiny

Ever seen death from a handshake distance? I literally mean ‘a distance,’ what they say as ‘by a whisker’.

National Highway 6 (Not the Anushka Kohli wala NH10 :P) , four people sitting inside an ambassador. As the ambassador was trying to maneuver a right turn, a passenger sitting on the right side back was alarming on incoming vehicle. The driver did not react: as the car turned say 20 degrees , we could see the approaching flashlight……a ramming incoming vehicle.

Ever been in this kind of scenario? Ever felt this helpless? The feeling of numbness….. the inevitable approaching….where you don’t know how to react. The split second: did anything flashed by? A face, a moment, a memory? Or is it just you are just overpowered by the awe of the situation. The last thing you remember: a vehicle incoming....about to hit.....and
Coming back; an incoming ambassador screeched past taking a superb swerve on the right……. Braking heavily onto the opposite side. The following pickup wasn’t that lucky. Rammed directly onto the car. Bang.
The end?

Ahhhh…what a nice way to yield the benefit of the Life Insurance investments you have been making! (sic). Just because someone wasn’t  alert behind driving wheels lives could have been lost. Just because some driver had great reflex: perhaps lives were saved.

Re Incarnation : Was coming back really necessary?

You still remember the Operation Theater? The pungent smells of the medicines as you are wheeled in the trolley bed. Fully aware of the surrounding, looking around……..and thinking ahh the time has come. Will it be the last call? Or just another day, you will wake up in 30 mins or so and simply walk out!

As the anesthetic goes inside the vein; you seem to feel nothing. The smiling doc, the gloves, the bright lights, the nurses; well, all seem to have their own role…except you: lying done….waiting for the inevitable to take over.

You lost your consciousness…..or is it just a feeling. An all-soothing sub consciousness……. You losing track of time, events everything happening around you. A pure bliss….not a single thought, nothing to worry about. They say people getting high on weeds: isn’t this more blissful. You can feel your surroundings, you can feel as if you are traversing through a dream: a Utopian dream, nothing to worry about: just enjoying the moment. Or is it just like those imageries they show on tv while a person is unconscious.

Whatever it is, how long it is…….. it continues on and on…..a never ending journey…..travelling through the thin air…….and perhaps you want it to go on without an end. You trying to hold on to a particular face? A particular thought? A particular memory? Nope……..nothing is there to hold back…..everything seems to pass by like those tree lines you fell behind the windows from a moving super-fast train.

Come on! It’s over…….The feel good is giving its way to dizziness slowly……… you can feel the lights of the room…..very hazy. Someone’s moving you on a trolley….you feel the movement but is too naive to move your hand even. What’s happening……. You can’t sit up; your head seemed to weigh a ton…….going in topsy-turvy. The leg…the toe….seemed to be planted to the bed…..why the hell I can’t move those!

What’s wrong? Your brain in working…..but you seemed to have lost control over your limbs! Is everything ok? Or………………………………………………………………….
………………………………………………………..

It’s Ok mate.  Just the residual effect of the anesthetics.

Welcome back to the bad, ugly real world.
